QGIS Lesson 1 - Introduction to QGIS

Lesson 1  – Introduction

Welcome to DMAD’s first online GIS lesson, an introduction to GIS. In the same way that we use a word processor, such as Microsoft Word to deal with word based documents, we can use GIS softwares or appications in order to deal with spatial data. GIS stands for ‘Geographical Information System’. The data displayed in the Montenegro map is from the website DIVA GIS, who have lots more useful data: https://diva-gis.org/gdata .
The image of the raster is from ARCGIS’s website from a page with more information about rasters including how point and line data would be displayed: https://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/10.3/manage-data/raster-and-images/how-features-are-represented-in-a-raster.htm
