Within the waters of Montenegro, DMAD in hand with NHAM has documented two dolphin species present per current our research. These being Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) and bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops Truncatus). As an organisation, we have been conducting several land surveys a week and whilst weather permitting we attempt to carry out boat surveys weekly, during these we have started to see trends occurring within the sighting locations as our surveys conducted in Kotor have usually resulted in no sightings, while our observation point in Utjeha have been successful with dolphin sightings this could be hinting toward a slight site fidelity towards the area. The Mediterranean subpopulation of bottlenose dolphins and striped dolphins are classified as Vulnerable under the IUCN list 2012. While we are researching the abundance, location and behaviour and the species present it should be a priority that these species become protected against their biggest threats such as entanglement in fishing equipment, over fishing of prey species and dynamite fishing.
